EA3 PEER EVALUATION OF WR2

WR2 report written by: Bueford Fernporker

EA1 peer evaluation by: Lucinda Lazenby

OBJECTIVE - Briefly describe what someone should reasonably be able to do as a result of reading the report (consider the purpose of the report). Do NOT use words like "Know”, "Understand", "Learn" or "Appreciate".

Anyone who reads this report should be able to identify topic and tasks relating to the course of “Microcomputer Support Specialist.”

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT - Using words like "Good", "Very Good", and/or "Excellent", briefly describe two things relating to how well the report was written, that you feel are worthy of praise.

Bueford – Your report is written very nicely and covers a good selection of topics.  You did a good job presenting the topics sequentially for a Linux introduction class.  Your Tasks also follow a good logical sequence.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM - Considering the manner in which the lesson was presented, make one specific suggestion that clearly and specifically describes how something about the lesson could be improved.

Bueford – Although you have done a good job overall, I have found a few things that I feel you could improve upon.  You should read over your report to fix a few problems.   You added a line to the Microcomputer Support Specialist description from the Dictionary of Occupational Titles that is not a part of the code.  You stated “Instructs dog handlers on basic safety.”  The code actually reads “Instructs user in use of equipment, software, and manuals.” You also omitted the line that follows, it should read,  “Answers client's inquiries in person and via telephone concerning systems operation; diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems; and recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.”   I suggest that you have students define terms regarding the early history of Linux mentioned in your topic 1.  Your task 1 of meditation does not give a measurable student outcome.  Your task 3 does not relate to any item from the topic list, I suggest you create a task that demonstrates that students can relate information about Linux’s place in the operating system community as mentioned in topic 3.
